Nose
Well-fired toast topped with fresh butter and Arbroath smokies, some seaweed, cherry jam, a bonfire at the beach, salted caramel, iodine and dark chocolate. With water, more dark fruits appear alongside the smoke, an oily, buttery note, herbal notes of thyme and sage, earthy but dry muddiness, cola and cinnamon.
Palate
Cigarette ash, heavy peat, wholemeal bread, red berry compote, more ash and tar, a lot of salt and freshly cracked black pepper. Sherry notes are present but slightly overpowered by peat smoke. With water, still heavy with prominent ash and peat, but alcohol restrained, showing sweeter caramel and candied lemon peel, charred meat flavor (burnt char sui pork).
Finish
Long and punchy with heaps of smoke and earth, salty, charred smokiness.
