Nose
A complex and intriguing nose. Initially, a wave of sweet, smoky peat, reminiscent of a beach bonfire, with hints of iodine and sea spray. This is followed by a rich fruitiness, with notes of ripe apples, pears, and a touch of citrus zest. Underlying these are delicate floral notes and a subtle hint of vanilla.
Palate
The palate is full-bodied and oily, with an immediate burst of peat smoke that is both sweet and earthy. This is quickly joined by a delightful array of flavours: dark chocolate, espresso, and a hint of liquorice. The fruit notes from the nose reappear, with stewed apples and a touch of dried apricot. A subtle spiciness, with notes of black pepper and ginger, adds complexity.
Finish
Long and lingering, with the peat smoke slowly fading to reveal a sweet, malty core. A pleasant warmth remains, with hints of dark fruit and a touch of oak. The maritime influence is still present, with a subtle salinity that leaves you wanting more.
