Description

This is the fourth installment in the Islay Sponge series from independent bottler Decadent Drinks, featuring a 20-year-old peated Port Charlotte single malt from Bruichladdich distillery. Distilled in 2003, the whisky matured full-term in a refill hogshead, allowing its pungent peat and funky barley characteristics to shine. Decadent Drinks, established in 2019 by Angus MacRaild, based its initial bottlings on the Whisky Sponge blog. This particular vintage of Port Charlotte is noted for its farmyard funk and dense Islay character, drawing comparisons to Brora from the 1970s.
