Nose
Intense maritime peat smoke with iodine, sea spray, crushed shells, driftwood, citrus (lemon, grapefruit), bandages, tiger balm, wet linen. With water, wood appears, and peat tones down, revealing medicinal notes and antiseptic. Hugely medicinal and powerful, sharp and direct notes of farmyard-accented peat smoke, green fruit eau de vie, saline fino en rama notes, coal fire sizzled bacon and thick tarry rope. With water, marmite, Twiglets, malt syrup and heady notes of tiger balm.
Palate
Surprisingly soft arrival, then strong peat and spices, wood smoke, ash, soot, charcoal, chocolate, espresso cream, chili pepper. Mineral notes of wet pebbles, flint, calcite. Orange, custard cream, liquorice. With water, fruitier and more citrusy. Creamy and oily mouthfeel. The neat palate opened with a rush of seaweed and pure iodine. Camphor, tree moss, Elastoplast, embrocation, seawater, resinous peat smoke, carbolic acidity and smoked tobacco leaf. Water brought a stunningly mouth-slathering texture, hay smoke, ashy Goat curds, salted liquorice, peppermint, lemon verbena and warm rock pools.
Finish
Peat smoke, soot, flint, and pepper, moving to tabasco sauce and wasabi. Long, with a nice soft warmth lingering on.
