Description

A spectacular and very rare single cask expression from the silent Port Ellen Distillery, distilled in 1981 and bottled in 2008 for the Feis Ile festival. This 27-year-old Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky was the first and only single cask bottling from Port Ellen under Diageo ownership, with only 220 bottles produced from a single American Oak cask (#1301). It sold out instantly at the 2008 Feis Ile Islay festival, where it was exclusively available. This legendary bottling is highly sought-after and regarded as one of the rarest official Port Ellen bottlings.

Nose
Aroma is very pleasant. Notes of smoked fish, vanilla custard, dandelions, flower nectar, brown coal, pu-erh tea, matches, dry white wine, and liquorice. It gets more complex and wilder over time.
Palate
Starts smoothly with orange marmalade and lapsang souchong (smoked tea), then becomes a hard-hitter with peat, lemon peel, orange peel, coriander, and brown sugar. Extremely rich and very balanced in flavour.
Finish
Very long and smooth, with lingering oak and spice. It softens with hints of pineapple drops and honey, while keeping its beautiful profile.
