The notes put fruit and syrupy sweetness up front, then bring in a dry, peppery edge with tobacco and dark chocolate. That contrast sounds more interesting to me than a uniformly sweet sherry-cask style. The finish keeps the darker notes alongside tropical fruit and ginger. Although it is labelled peated, the supplied tasting notes do not describe smoke, so I wouldn’t use that label alone to judge how smoky it is. The balance of sweet fruit, dryness, and spice is what holds my interest here.
At 59.9%, syrupy sweetness meets sharp ginger and pepper.
Sherry cask, with syrup, honey and fruit in the notes, then ginger, pepper and dark chocolate to cut across the sweetness. That sounds nicely balanced on paper; the cask detail gets its place without having to explain every flavour.
The character has an engaging push and pull: rich syrup, honey, and ripe fruit meet an immediately dry palate with ginger, pepper, and bitter notes. That contrast gives the sweetness some structure rather than making it feel one-dimensional. The dark chocolate and lingering leather and ginger keep the finish on the more savoury side, while the fruit brings it back toward brightness. It sounds rewarding for someone who enjoys sweetness with a firm, spicy edge, though the sharpness may not suit every preference.
