Description

Puni Arte No 5 is a limited edition Italian Single Malt Whisky from the Puni Distillery, Italy's first whisky distillery in South Tyrol. This 6-year-old expression from the exclusive Arte series was matured for 6.4 years in ex-Islay whisky casks that previously held heavily peated Islay malt for over ten years, imparting subtle smoky notes. It is bottled at 48% ABV, non-chill filtered, and limited to 2,830 bottles.

Nose
Inviting layers of smoke, arboreal notes with hints of woodland and pine forest, fruity notes of rennet apple, kaiser pears, and bergamot, with slight spicy inflections of nutmeg and cloves. Honey, custard, and almond paste complete the bouquet, with vegetable smoke framing the aromas.
Palate
Full-bodied and balanced, with gentle honey sweetness harmoniously balanced with citrusy bergamot notes. Creamy and oily, with fruit and pastry elements (baked apple, dried apricot, chestnut honey, candied lemon peel, sweet liquorice, and butter brioche), vegetal and woody notes (damp wood, aromatic herbs, moss, nuts), and a hint of spices and leather.
Finish
Long and pleasant, with subtle nuances of oak and a hint of leather. Quite long and dry, of spices, nuts, citrus and vegetable notes, and ash. The smoke remains in the background, a mineral and slightly iodine vein that becomes a dull brazier in length.
