Description

R&B Distillers received planning permission for the first legal distillery on the Isle of Raasay in early 2016. The Isle of Raasay Distillery, established in 2017, produces this lightly peated Hebridean Single Malt Scotch Whisky. Batch #R-02 is a blend of peated and unpeated spirits, matured separately in first-fill ex-Rye Whiskey, virgin Chinkapin oak, and first-fill Bordeaux red wine casks. Distilled between 2017 and 2018 and bottled in 2021, it is presented at 46.4% ABV, natural colour, and non-chill filtered. The whisky showcases a complex interplay of sweet fruit notes, smoke, and spice, reflecting the distillery's commitment to artisanal production and transparency.

Gentle peat and sweet, dry smoke, with notes of cherry, blackcurrant, red fruits, apple, vanilla, molasses, BBQ sauce, burnt sugar, creme brulee, earthy nuances, herbal incense, cinnamon, rye-influenced clove spiciness, warm oak, tree bark, fresh pencil shavings, faintly grassy, soft grain, savoury honey, aniseed.
