Description
Redbreast is an Irish single pot still whiskey, which started out in the early 1900's. Produced in Dublin by W & A Gilbey; a wine merchant and bonder who received their spirit from the famous Bow Street Distillery (home of Jameson's whiskey). The whiskey takes its name from one of Gilbey's chairmen, nicknamed "Redbreast" due to his penchant for bird watching. Production moved from Dublin to Cork. This 12 Year Old Cask Strength expression is made from a mash of malted and unmalted barley, triple distilled in copper pot stills, and matured in a combination of bourbon seasoned American oak barrels and Oloroso Sherry seasoned Spanish oak butts. It is bottled at natural cask strength without chill filtration, offering a full-flavored and complex taste.
