Description

The Redbreast Moscatel Wine Cask Edition is the fifth iteration in Redbreast's acclaimed Iberian Series, showcasing a Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey finished in Moscatel wine casks from Bodegas Quitapenas in Málaga, Spain. It is initially matured in ex-American whiskey and Spanish Oloroso sherry casks before a final maturation period of 16 months in the Moscatel casks. This limited edition brings a rich Mediterranean expression with vibrant citrus, floral honey, and sweet fruit notes to the classic Redbreast style.

Nose
A fresh and floral balance of zesty fruits (tangerine, orange peel) with delicate herbal notes (chamomile tea), dustings of nutmeg, shaved cedarwood, vanilla, floral honey, and sugar-glazed fruits. Pot still spices add subtle notes of black peppercorn and clove.
Palate
Vibrant fruits (pear, lime, green apple, figs, sultanas, pineapple, peach), textured layers of toffee and honeycomb, vanilla, graham cracker, barley, peppery oak, chocolate syrup, grape jelly, freshly whipped cream, subtle undertones of dried herbs, cinnamon, fennel, roasted hazelnut, and a juicy sweetness from the Moscatel.
Finish
A lasting and warming finish with pot still spices and wine-seasoned oak lingering, notes of red and pink berries, rich chocolate, walnut, raisin, peach pits, coconut, gingerbread, orange peel, mild oak tannins, and a gentle dryness.
