- Nose
- Delightful aroma, big and rich. Fruit and nut, black cherry, olde English marmalade, peat, touch of moss/fern, dried peels, black banana and caramel, some smoke. Overripe tropical fruits such as apricot, papaya, and honeydew melon, with a hint of cinnamon. Sugary caramel and vanilla, almonds, some sherry influence, hint of oakiness.
- Palate
- Light, elegant, and refined taste. Fruit cake sweetness. A thick feel and a broad mid-palate which tapers into a dry spicy finish. Water brings out milk chocolate. Initial fruity sweetness persists, enhanced by sugar candy and honey notes, mingled with Christmas spices. Prunes, cocoa, vanilla, and malt, with clear oak tones. Very smooth, coats the mouth. Dark sugars, vanilla, nuttiness, a little bit of cinnamon, like a Christmas cake. Sweet and rich, with honey, sugar candy, prunes, vanilla, and soft oak undertones.
- Finish
- Quite rich and lovely smooth texture. Nutty and long. Unfolds with warmth and an exceptionally long duration. Syrup-like, evoking caramel sweets and liquid, heated honey. Subtle hints of orange peel, sage, and anise. Medium length, with more spices at the end. Smooth and lingering, with notes of cocoa, vanilla, and gentle oak. Leathery sandalwood and linseed putty.
