Description
Sagamore Spirit Double Oak Rye Whiskey is a Maryland-style rye whiskey that undergoes a unique two-step aging process. It is initially aged for 4 to 5 years in high-char new American oak barrels. Following this, the whiskey is transferred and finished for an additional 18 months in toasted wave stave barrels, which are low-char, medium-plus-toast vessels with increased surface area to impart richer flavors of caramel, toffee, hazelnut, and toasted coconut. The whiskey is proofed with limestone-filtered water from Sagamore Farm's spring house, built in 1909.
