Description
Scapa was founded in 1885 and used to be known as the only truly 'unpeated' Island malt. It was damaged by fire in 1919, but rebuilt. In 1959 a Lomond still was installed which ran as intended until 1979. Production ceased in 1994 with occasional runs being done by the crew from nearby Highland Park. In 2004, however it was released as single malt and a major refurbishment of the distillery began. This 14 year old single malt saw a relatively short-lived time on shelves, as it was subsequently discontinued in 2008 when it was superseded by the 16 year old bottling.
