Description
Scapa was founded in 1885 and used to be known as the only truly 'unpeated' Island malt. It was damaged by fire in 1919, but rebuilt. In 1959 a Lomond still was installed which ran as intended until 1979. Production ceased in 1994 with occasional runs being done by the crew from nearby Highland Park. In 2004, however it was released as single malt and a major refurbishment of the distillery began. This 20 year old Orkney single malt was laid to sleep at the Scapa distillery in 1993 and bottled by Chivas Brothers for their Cask Strength Edition range in 2013. It was a distillery exclusive, making it a rare find.
