Description

Named due to the close relationship one of its three founders had with a Tunbridge Wells-based whisky shop of the same name, Master of Malt originally started trading in 1985 as an independent bottler to fulfil demand for single malt whiskies from the world's finest distilleries. The company then opened a physical store with a loyal small customer base. This 16-year-old Highland single malt, matured in a PX hogshead and bottled at a forthright 50.5% ABV, offers thick, fudgy sweetness, layers of warming spice, and bright, juicy fruit. It is natural colour and non-chill-filtered, making it suitable for gifting or enjoying during a Burns Night celebration. [cite: 1, 4, Scotch Whisky Auctions]

Nose
Baked apple and warming caramel join creamy notes of tea biscuits and vanilla wafers. Fruity, cakey, with banana bread and a subtle touch of seasalt, and big, sweet waves of maple-y, toasty malt.
Palate
Textured and robust with bold maltiness, hazelnut topped toasted biscuits, and creme brulee. Silky maple syrup with all the sappy character baked in support hints of spice, with toffee apples and chewy dates backed by deep oaky warmth.
Finish
Woody spices and dark toffee linger with a splendid balance of apricot, vanilla custard and invigorating cakey spice.
