Description

A very well-balanced whisky that is richer, rounder and sweeter than younger expressions, and also has an attractive spicy finish. [cite: Paneco] It's an 18-year-old Speyside single malt Scotch whisky, matured primarily in ex-bourbon American oak casks with a finishing influence from European oak, lending depth and dried fruit character. It is known for its rich, fruit-forward, and approachable profile.

Maltiply Tasting Profile
Nose
Warm honey and cinnamon, followed by brown sugar and baked apple. A layer of fresh strawberries and vanilla emerges with time, reminiscent of barrel-aged Dutch apple pie. Dry, rich and complex with black pepper and mature notes of cigar-box, hard toffee and faint dry fruits like over-ripe banana, pears and plums, backed by polished walnut and leather.
Palate
Rich with caramel sweetness, cinnamon spice and brown sugar. Vanilla and stewed dark fruits build towards the peak, joined by silky toffee and a subtle undertone of toasted oak. Very soft, with a smooth texture and sweet taste (chocolate-coated shortbread) but also a fresh acidity that deepens into a rich spicy note of herbs, black cherry and sweet liquorice, heading towards chilli-pepper.
Finish
Medium-to-long, with black pepper and a gentle dill note giving way to a surprising campfire-like warmth and light woodsmoke. A faint vegetal quality and lingering berry sweetness close out the experience. Soft, dry and rounded, with a pleasant nutty spiciness.
