Nose
Savoury, waxy, mineral, yeasty, bovril, a loaf of brown bread with molasses wrapped in wax paper, kept in an old tin box that had shoe polish in it before. A little grape concentrate, a touch flinty and industrial (think of machine oil & carbon paper). A touch floral/grape acidity like on some Cognacs.
Palate
Super rich, very oily, ink, almond/ sunflower oil, butter caramel, old school wood polish, slightly carbolic, there's so much weigh to this, a kind of slightly game meat, dried figs & miso.
Finish
Gristy grain, old wines, the oak feels old too, almost dusty funky dunnage notes, date paste mixed with tamarind, bitter orange liqueur & ointments. A good dose of spicy oak (maybe French?).
