Description

A revered single malt distillery in Campbeltown that has operated since 1828. It is today owned by J&A Mitchell & Co who produce three single malt styles there. These are its flagship two-and-half times distilled Springbank, a heavily-peated malt known as Longrow, and the triple-distilled Hazelburn. This particular bottling is a rare 27 year old Springbank, distilled in 1991 and bottled in 2018 at 46.4% ABV, exclusively for The Whisky Agency.

Beautifully waxy with loads of fruit including apples, bananas, apricots, ripe peaches, rhubarb jam, guava, and lychee. Hints of caramel, slight spice, Springbank funk, old whisky smell, buttery tartlets, wax candles, and sunflower oil. [2, 3, 4, 9]
Palate
Rich and deep with old apples, fruity, old and funky, waxy and pristine. Notes of honey, super nutty, apricots, guava, pineapple, wet gravel, waxy orange peel, chalk, rosemary, coconut oil, and light ginger. [2, 3, 4, 9]
Finish
Medium long and lasting, with mango, wax, old whisky, candles, dusty draws, citrus peel, a wee salty note, and a warm, round vanilla/pastry touch. [2, 3, 4, 9]
