Description

The Springbank 21 Year Old 2023 Release is a highly anticipated single malt from Campbeltown, matured for 21 years in a complex combination of casks: 45% ex-bourbon, 20% ex-sherry, 20% ex-rum, and 15% ex-port wine casks. This expression is bottled at 46% ABV, free from chill filtration and artificial colorings. It is part of a series of gold-boxed special editions that reappeared in 2012, marking the first 21-year-old release since 2005. Only 3,600 bottles were released, making it a sought-after and often quickly sold-out bottling. Springbank is one of the few distilleries in Scotland to perform every step of the whisky-making process on-site, from malting to bottling.

Nose
Notes of citrus zest, pineapple upside-down cake, fudge, baked ham, and tomato vine leaves, with subtle peat smoke. Tropical notes of pineapple, coconut flesh, papaya, and cantaloupe, along with wet pebbles, marzipan, banana bread, and walnuts.
Palate
A tropical influence with ripe mango, dried coconut, papaya, liquorice, cola syrup, digestive biscuits, honey, and a slight earthiness. Spiciness, malty richness, green, fresh notes, and juicy apples. Fondant fancies, seashells, buttercream, lemon drizzle, flying saucers, banana chew sweets, basque cheesecake, and milk chocolate truffles.
Finish
Long and engaging, with notes of orange zest, campfire embers, caramel, dried fruits, ripe juicy fruits, tempered oakiness, and mild spiciness (cinnamon and nutmeg).
