Description

Karl J Schoen, the founder of The Perfect Fifth, gained a passion and interest in whisky from simply watching his family toast life achievements with it. That unique introduction to whisky was a key inspiration to Karl founding The Perfect Fifth in 2019. Together with his brother Ben, Karl travelled round Scotland sampling casks until they found a few that would be worthy of The Perfect Fifth name. This twenty-five year old whisky from Springbank was distilled in 1993 and bottled by The Perfect Fifth in 2019 after spending the intervening years in a single sherry cask, which yielded just 522 bottles.

Salt dominates, with dried apricots and spiced pear. Vague, barely audible peaty notes tease, alongside honey, vanilla, grass, and hints of smoke in a cotton candy coating.
Palate
A coastal-style bite with salty tannins and cocoa-laden phenol. Rich and oily, with peaty smoke, rich chocolate, lemon, and barley sugar.
Finish
Drier, with elevated tannins, still salty, lightened by barley sugar and lemon juice. Extraordinary length due to residual oils.
