Description

The 2021 release of Springbank's 25 Year Old single malt whisky is a limited edition, with only 1,400 bottles released worldwide. This Campbeltown whisky has been matured for a quarter of a century in a combination of 70% sherry, 15% bourbon, and 15% rum casks, and bottled at 46% ABV. Springbank is one of only two distilleries in Scotland to perform every step of the whisky-making process on-site, from malting the barley to bottling the spirit.

Nose
Initially rhubarb, tropical fruits, golden syrup, and shortbread. Followed by coconut shavings, barbecued meats, and sweet sugar cane. A mustiness develops reminiscent of dunnage warehouses and bung cloth.
Palate
Almonds, pecan pie, and butterscotch. Peat starts building alongside cigar box and old library notes. Very typical of a mature Springbank; salty, earthy, and briny. Smooth and syrupy, with notes of sultanas, bananas and Demerara sugar crystals.
Finish
Refined with a hint of peat smoke. Dunnage warehouse; earthy, bung cloth. Fruit notes develop with hints of molasses and sweet Prosciutto ham. The coastal influence presents itself in a saltiness, along with hints of barley water and grassy notes.
