Description

A revered single malt distillery in Campbeltown that has operated since 1828. It is today owned by J&A Mitchell & Co who produce three single malt styles there. Nose
On the nose, this whisky will transport you to a forest in the rain where a smorgasbord of fruity treats is awaiting you - Turkish delights, quberdons, cola cubes, cherry sours. There are also hints of menthol and leather polish.
Palate
A very pleasant affair with hardly any Springbank funk but then the palate takes the proceedings in a completely different direction. Savoury notes dominate here - green bell pepper, burdock and mashed turnips - with freshly roasted chestnuts, artichokes and grapefruit albedo on the side. The texture is thick and oily, and the mouthfeel is long and gentle with lime zest and blueberry jam playing a leading role, accompanied by some bird's eye chilli.
Finish
A long, lingering, mentholated finish that is wonderfully delicate with the sort of bravura that only maestro Springbank can pull off!
