- Nose
- Fresh with citrus notes and wee peat smoke, like a squirt of fresh juice from a grape. Toffee and licorice. Honeycomb, dried fruit, vanilla, and sea spray with hints of smoke and spice. Sublime marriage of cream, coconut, the faintest whiff of peat and fruit toast with melted butter. Marzipan and dried fruits. An underlying layer of leather and peat. Some sugared candies.
- Palate
- Honey and toffee, small hints of pepper. Citrus is also present, first in the form of fresh grape or lemon, then as sour lemon peel. Full-bodied and rich with layers of caramel, malted barley, citrus zest, dark chocolate, and a touch of brine and peat. Oily mouthfeel, creamy, sweet dried fruits, light peat smoke and dark chocolate. Quite fruity. Dried fruits but the darker ones, like blackberries and blueberries. Strawberry and oranges. Some sweetness from chocolate.
- Finish
- Bitter, ginger and mint dominate with citrus staying in the background. Very fresh. Long, warming, and powerful with lingering oak spice, smoke, and sweet toffee. Medium to long length, spicy smoke concentrates on the tongue then fades, warming. A drying finish in the mouth, chocolates and dark fruits. Ending with a hint of tobacco.
