Description

Discover the extraordinary Springbank 27 Year Old Countdown Collection, a masterpiece from the traditional Springbank distillery in Campbeltown, Scotland. This single malt Scotch whisky, aged for 27 years, was released in 2023 as the first of five annual bottlings in the Countdown Collection, anticipating the distillery's 200th anniversary in 2028. It was matured in a combination of refill bourbon and sherry casks and bottled at 47.1% ABV. Only 500 bottles were produced, available by ballot through the distillery, and it is free from chill filtration and artificial colourings.

Nose
Bright and fresh with floral and creamy aromas. Pear drops, custard creams, orange blossom, peach and apricot notes are complimented by a touch of toasted coconut. Caramel, toffee, dark honey, dried fruits, plums, figs, apple, nuts, pepper, little ginger, spices, hint of sherry, herbs, whiff of leather, little woody, parsley.
Palate
Oily, creamy, caramel, toffee, dark honey again, sherry wood, spices, dried fruits, jam, subtle sweetness, hint of soy sauce, little meaty, pepper. Notes of fruit continue alongside the velvety, buttery and delicate nature of this whisky with an introduction of slightly sweet, yet tart stewed apples. Buttercream and honeycomb preside with syrupy notes of glazed apricots and a hint of orange zest. A herbaceous quality emerges reminiscent of dried tea leaves.
Finish
Long, warm, caramel, woody, spices. Elements of spice and nuttiness follow with notes of gingerbread and pecans. The herbal qualities are prolonged and a lemon sherbet note provides a welcome vibrance and tang towards the end.
