Description

This Springbank Local Barley release was distilled in July 2009 and bottled in October 2019. It is the 5th in Springbank's series of annual releases distilled from barley grown locally in the areas surrounding Campbeltown. The barley used is the Optic varietal, grown at High Cattadale Farm on the Kintyre Peninsula. The whisky was matured in a vatting of 77% bourbon, 20% sherry, and 3% port casks. This limited edition reflects Springbank's traditional 100% Campbeltown production, from barley to bottle, and was bottled at cask strength. Approximately 9,000 bottles were released globally. Springbank is a revered single malt distillery in Campbeltown that has operated since 1828, owned by J&A Mitchell & Co.

Tropical and soft fruit sweetness. Ripe pineapple, mango and juicy peaches are complimented by a building peat smoke. Green tea and a coppery tone follow.
Finish
Creamy, buttery mouthfeel with light integrated peat smoke and a coastal salty influence.
