Description
For a period, Campbeltown was the undisputed Whisky Capital of the World, boasting over 30 distilleries operating simultaneously at its peak. Locally available peat, barley and coal, coupled with a quick steamship service to Glasgow meant this thriving industry lasted into the early 20th Century. Alas; ultimately (and perhaps inevitably) it proved unsustainable, and by 1935 the bubble had well and truly burst. This Springbank 13 Year Old Local Barley, distilled in June 2010 and bottled in December 2023, is part of the esteemed Local Barley series. It was crafted from Belgravia barley sourced from Glencraigs Farm in Campbeltown and matured in a combination of 60% ex-Bourbon and 40% ex-Sherry casks. This limited edition release of 8,400 bottles embodies the essence of its terroir and Springbank's traditional, hands-on approach to whisky making.
