Description

This exceptional Springbank 1991 is a limited edition release from the prestigious Murray McDavid Mission Gold Series. Distilled at the legendary Springbank Distillery in Campbeltown, this single malt was matured for 19 years in a Refill Sherry cask before being bottled at a natural cask strength of 56.1% ABV. Distilled: 1991 and bottled in 2011 at Bruichladdich Distillery. It is non-chill filtered and not coloured.

Nose
Slightly mineraly and somewhat dusty, reminiscent of jute. Offers sweet touches of hard pineapple candy and gooseberries, with honey, beeswax, and a hint of warm wood shavings. Also notes of oatcakes, sea breeze, scones, and white grape.
Palate
Spices appear first, with a good attack, slightly creamy and very sweet. Features the same fruit as the nose, accompanied by oranges and grapefruit, and a hefty helping of pepper. Sponge cake, raspberry jam, raisin, oak spices, and light touches of peat smoke are also present.
Finish
Spicy and sweet, straightforward and rewarding. Very long, with a sweet hint of vanilla and a peppery waxiness.
