Description

This Springbank 8 Year Old was released for the distillery's Online Tasting Week in May 2021, which was held virtually as part of the Campbeltown Malts Festival. It was initially matured for six years in refill bourbon barrels before being finished for two years in fresh Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. This limited edition release had a total outturn of 1160 bottles.

Plenty of blackcurrants, creme de cassis, aceto di balsamico, raisins, plums, dates, nutmeg, dried figs, candied orange peel, coffee, leather, toasted brown sugar, creamy vanilla, wood smoke, and charred oak with hints of funkiness.
Palate
Sweet and dry with earthy smoke, cracked black peppercorns, sweet and acidic Pedro Ximénez influence, dried fruit, milk chocolate, sweet liquorice, blood orange, cola, and a drop of lemon. Full-bodied with sugary, syrupy notes of juicy raisins, figs, and dates.
Finish
Dark chocolate, dry and peppery notes of liquorice, ash, coffee, orange, white pepper, black pepper, rose pepper, honey, burnt caramel, wood smoke, and toasted oak. Long and rich.
