The creamy toffee and honey sit comfortably with the orchard fruit and oak. I like that balance, though the very long, dry, malty finish takes it away from the lingering sweetness I tend to favour.
The oak and spice sit beside orchard fruit, cereal and sweetness, so the description sounds balanced rather than oak-led. I’m not sure the oak needs to be the main draw here; the long, dry finish sounds more distinctive.
The palate’s creamy texture and sweetness give the spice and oak a rounded counterpoint, rather than making them the whole story. I like that contrast, especially alongside the cereal notes. The very long, malty, dry finish shifts the emphasis away from the honeyed fruit and gives the whisky a more restrained close. It sounds layered without relying on spice alone for character.
