Description

This St. Magdalene 1982 26 Year Old is an independent bottling from Douglas Laing's Old Malt Cask series. Distilled in September 1982 and aged for 26 years in a refill butt, it was bottled in October 2008 at 50% ABV. This limited release from the silent Lowland distillery yielded 511 bottles.

Nose
Very fruity with limes, oranges, apple tart with custard. Aromatic, very grassy and slightly fruity with lots of oranges. Dried flowers, paraffin, chalk, green tea with lemon, a hint of smoke.
Palate
Mixed peels, cocoa, good sweetness, very fruity, great richness. Citrus notes (orange, lemon), plenty of apples, juicy and honeyed, some vanilla, subtle coastal hints. Smooth, medium texture, nectarine, avocados, finger lime, pineapple, lemongrass, pandan.
Finish
Plenty of marmalade, very zesty, just wonderful character. Quite sweet, on pear and peaches with soft spices. The orange was dominating, some bitterness with salt and caramel. Long, elegant, pine syrup, cedar, sandalwood, flan, nutmeg.
