moscatel wine and bourbon casks, with peat meeting moscatel sweetness.
Smoke is clearly part of the character here, with smoky peat on the nose and smoky notes carrying through the palate. I like the contrast with sweet apricots and the Moscatel sweetness in the finish: it gives the smoke a fruitier counterpoint without making it seem incidental. Heather, dried fruit, vanilla and a hint of spice add welcome detail. A lively, clearly smoke-led combination.
The smoke is clearly part of the picture, with peat on the nose and palate. I like that the Moscatel sweetness gives it a clear counterpoint rather than leaving the smoke on its own.
orangepeel_notebook8 FebAt 60%, smoke and Moscatel sweetness keep things nicely balanced.
