Description

The oldest operational distillery in Speyside and a picturesque site located in the town of Keith. Founded in 1786, it is today part of the Chivas Brothers division of Pernod Ricard and makes important contributions to the company's blends as well as its own single malt brand. Perhaps Scotland's prettiest distillery, the distinctive double pagodas are much photographed by tourists and whisky fans alike. Due to the connection with the adventurous James Barclay, Strathisla is at the heart of the Chivas Regal and Royal Salute blends; indeed the distillery's visitor centre is called, "The Home and Heart of Chivas Regal."

Nose
Sweet, malty, floral, and fruity with notes of apple, pear, honey, candied peel, and soft oak. Hints of spice and Danish pastries.
Palate
Clean and light texture, malty core with sultanas, cinnamon pastries, allspice, cooked apple, mince pies, juicy pears, toffee, and roasted nuts. Smooth entry with an oily mouthfeel.
Finish
Short to medium, very fruity, with pleasant dry aftertaste of barley and caramel. Lingering notes of bitter oak and burnt brown sugar.
