Description

This is a 12-year-old single malt whisky from the Strathisla distillery, independently bottled by The Scotch Malt Whisky Society (SMWS) as part of their unique single cask releases. Distilled on March 30, 2006, and bottled in 2018, this expression, known as 'Berried Alive', is from cask number 58.31. It was matured for 10 years in an ex-bourbon hogshead and then finished in a second-fill Chenin Blanc barrique. This non-chill filtered and uncolored whisky is bottled at a cask strength of 59.1% ABV, with an outturn of only 244 bottles.

Creamy, fudgy, caramel with fruity floweriness and wisps of lemon. Also notes of figs, almonds, sandalwood, and floral and earthy undertones.
Palate
Tropical fruits, plump raisins, and vanilla sweetness, all contained in a slight creaminess. Summer berries like blackberries, raspberries, cranberries, and strawberries, with toasted white sugar, dried fruits, spicy ginger, and smooth caramel. Honey, baking spices, ginger, caramel, toffee apples, and fruit chews.
Finish
Smooth with medium spice, leather, and a grapefruit dryness, with a lingering note of vanilla and blackberries.
