Nose
Very rich, and not phenolic at all for the ABV; musty sherry is definitely prevalent; loads of moist raisin bread and fruit cake; muddled cherries; black currant; candied pecans; Demerara syrup and a blend of baking spices.
Palate
Kind of a slow starter—a soft buttery sweetness up front that really warms up on the latter half of the palate; rich fruit—stewed cherries, a little orange and some baked apple; cinnamon coated raisins; nutmeg and clove; old wet oak; linseed oil and chewy, mild tobacco.
Finish
Pleasantly warm; thick oily mouthfeel; browned butter; more clove; shortbread; caramel, nutty—maybe walnut; and tobacco resin.
