Nose
Melted dark chocolate and red wine gums, hints of anise, white pepper and coconut. Caramel, vanilla, milk chocolate, baked goods, citrus, apple, fruity sweetness, nutty. Leather and old books, sherbet, damp wood, rain smell, pebble beach. Pithy orange, candy, white chocolate ganache, roses, faint whiff of the sea. Strong, syrupy sweetness, tarty stewed fruits (pears and raspberries) on oatmeal porridge, dusted with barley sugar and nutmeg. Dates, Figs, Oranges, Dark Chocolate, Perfume, Honey, Maple Syrup, Waffles, Cherry Cola, Root Beer, Nutmeg, Baking Spices, Bananas, Toffee, Pineapples, Vanilla, Buttercream Frosting, Cranberries, Mulled Wine.
Palate
Jelly babies and a little more white pepper, cinnamon and fresh cut grass. Butterscotch and toffee, white chocolate, hazelnut, candied fruit, mild baking spices (nutmeg), pepper, grassy. Muscavado sugar and meadow flowers with more soft fruit, red wine gums, waxy mouthfeel. Tart and tangy fruits, blood oranges, raspberry, touch of bitter marmalade with sweet fragrant smoke. Full-bodied entry, creamy mouthfeel quickly bites dry, port influence with dried figs, enhanced stewed fruits, subtle tinge of dry oaky bitterness.
Finish
Swift but substantial with fruitcake notes. Fairly short, bitterness of dark chocolate, slight candy fruitiness. Honey and spicy oak, cardamon, touch of clove. Parma violets and love hearts – a fruity sherbet explosion. Vanilla ice cream, fairly dry finish, more oak taming sweet fruit character, medium-long with lingering notes of Virginia tobacco and plum sauce.
