Description

One of the Japanese whisky giants, Kotobukiya, or as we know them today; Suntory. The company was founded by Shinjiro Torii in 1899, first as an importer of Western wines and liquor. This is a special ceramic decanter of Suntory Crest 12 Year Old, released to commemorate the Suntory Open Golf Tournament in 1994. The Suntory Crest 12 Year Old is a blended whisky, with components aged for at least 12 years, distilled at Yamazaki or Hakushu distilleries. It was first launched in 1989 to mark Suntory's 90th anniversary and subsequently discontinued in 2006.

Nose
Buttery; caramelised figs, some creamy sherry notes. Very soft and velvety. Rum and raisins, green apples, melon.
Palate
Burnt caramel, quite meaty. Savoury almost but counterbalanced with sweetness, like caramelised onions cooked on the BBQ with balsamic. Smooth entry, medium bodied. More of melons, green apples and rum and raisins, added on with vanilla.
Finish
A drying finish with gentle spice and cinnamon sugar; a long, slow gradual fade. Slightly sweet and spicy.
