Description

1886 was the year in which Tamdhu came into this world when it was built by a consortium of blenders, and it is for blends that Tamdhu has dutifully made spirit for most of its life. Now owned by Ian Macleod Distillers, there has been a re-focus on this under-appreciated single malt that has played an important part for so long in blends such as Cutty Sark and The Famous Grouse. In 2017, Tamdhu celebrated its 120th anniversary. This Tamdhu 21 Year Old Cask Strength Limited Edition is crafted from the finest Oloroso casks and bottled at 55.3% ABV. Only 250 individually numbered bottles are available. It is non-chill filtered and has natural color.

Nose
Sherried oak with chocolate, sultanas, velvety toffee and warm cinnamon porridge oats rounded out with a hint of mocha and marzipan.
Palate
Christmas cake notes of plump, sherry-soaked raisins, candied oranges, and gentle oak aromas, with a creamy, juicy mouthfeel, bitter dark chocolate, cocoa nibs, bittersweet coffee, sweet vanilla pods, fresh ground clove and nutmeg spices, red grapefruit, orange zest and a tropical twist reminiscent of kumquats.
Finish
Long and smooth with waves of oak and warm spices giving way to rich, syrupy fruits, with refreshing ginger and citrus.
