Description

A Speyside malt distillery that forms part of the Ian Macleod Distillers group. Traditionally its malt was mostly used in blends such as Cutty Sark and The Famous Grouse, however since 2013 a new emphasis has been placed on its single malt brand.

Nose
Classic sherry style with walnuts, hazelnuts, toffee, gingerbread, prunes, tobacco leaves, cinnamon, sultanas, sandalwood, beeswax, and a faint flinty note. Also massive loads of raisins, dried damsons, French prunes, mulled wine spice, old rancio wine, and PX.
Palate
More sherry goodness, very fruity with raisins, plum jam, blackberries, brighter raspberries, pink grapefruit. Drying woody notes, rancio, tobacco leaves, liquorice, faint cocoa, cinnamon, cardamom, and subtle espresso. Superb old-school sherriness with tobaccos, toffees, millionaire shortbread, marmalade, fruitcake, dried beef, muscovado, and old armagnac.
Finish
Very long, still fruity with dried fruits, hints of chocolate, latte with cinnamon syrup, and gentle oak spice. Perfectly dry, more on chocolate, coffee, and armagnac.
