Tamdhu is a Speyside single malt Scotch whisky, renowned for its exclusive maturation in the finest Oloroso sherry casks. Founded in 1896/1897, the distillery was re-opened by Ian Macleod Distillers in 2012, continuing its tradition of producing rich, sherried whiskies. The dried fruit is the clearest draw here, with cherry and vanilla on the nose and dried apricot and orange zest in the finish. Dark chocolate, nuts and oak suggest a weightier palate than the fruit-led styles I tend to prefer, but the contrast sounds appealing.
