Description

This Teaninich 8 Year Old Single Grain Scotch Whisky, known as 'Daring Rye', is part of Diageo's 2025 Special Releases 'Horizons Unbound' collection. It represents a distillery-first experiment from 2016, blending malted rye and malted barley, and matured in ex-bourbon casks. Nose
Green, herbal, and spicy with notes of caramel, toasted oak, vanilla cream, rye spice, and hints of clove and dill. Faintly sharp top of acid-drop boiled sweets, becoming soft fudge. Green notes develop a more perfumed character, suggesting woody cologne.
Palate
Light and creamy-smooth in texture. Sweet at first with creamy vanilla, light acidity, and a green, herbal side. Rich, sweet fruit with apple, pear, redcurrant, orange, and lemon. Honeyed sweetness, a slight buttery quality, oak, wood spice, nutmeg, and ginger.
Finish
Short to medium, sharply spicy, with a pinch of dried coconut, lingering oaky spice, fudge sweetness, and rye warmth. Dry-ish with grassy and vegetal hints.
