The Scotch Malt Whisky Society was founded in Edinburgh in 1983. This is an independent bottling of Teaninich, a Highland distillery founded in 1817 and now owned by Diageo. Teaninich is known for producing whisky primarily for blends, with single malt bottlings being less common, often appearing through independent bottlers like SMWS. The distillery uses a unique mash filter and has a high production capacity.
