Nose
The red wine influence is immediately apparent, with rich dark berries and oak tannins sitting on top of a core of salted caramel, black pepper and earthy vanilla bean.
Palate
A huge hit of ginger, black pepper and cinnamon mixed with stewed plums and figs. The ABV is obvious, but not overpowering. On the second sip, more of the caramel made an appearance, but less like a salted caramel, and more like a creamy sweet caramel.
Finish
The sweetness starts to fade, but the oak, baking spices and berries last long into the finish, reminding me of a dark chocolate with dried berries mixed into it.
