Nose
Rich with sherry aromas of dried fruit and raisins, along with chocolate, tobacco, nuts, and licorice. Intense sultana, burnt fruit cake and sherry with black cherry, liquorice and soot.
Palate
Fruity and nutty with charred oak, dark fruit, berries, and a touch of spice. More roasted chestnut, oily walnut and dry oak. Cherry, redcurrant, thick treacle and a touch of cracked black pepper. Rich black cherry fruit, clove and black pepper spice with soot, gunpowder and charred oak. A surprising peat presence, with smokiness that quickly hits the palate before tapering off.
Finish
Balanced with sweet sherried notes, rich chocolate, and coffee. Dry spices last ages on the finish, with chocolate-covered raisins bringing a balancing sweetness. Salty liquorice, light black pepper spice and very faint coffee beans. Everlasting, dry and spicy with a slightly smoky, salty tail.
