Description

Tomatin Distillery, founded in 1897, is known for its Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky. This particular release is a 2001 vintage, 20-year-old single cask expression, bottled in 2022 exclusively for the UK market. Matured entirely in a Pedro Ximenez sherry butt, cask number 34872, it was bottled at a natural cask strength of 57.4% ABV. This limited edition yielded 658 bottles and was selected by Master Distiller Graham Eunson. It is described as a bold whisky showcasing the full influence of PX sherry maturation.

Rich with an intensely sweet opening bringing notes of maple syrup, candied walnuts, prunes and rum soaked sultanas. Intriguing bitter aromas like dark chocolate, treacle, espresso and leather emerge, with hints of dried apricot, raisins and a touch of cinnamon.
Palate
An incredible, almost chewy mouthfeel, with sweetness spreading through notes of cherry and plum liqueurs, golden syrup and Jamaican ginger cake. The bitter aromas from the nose reappear under a sweet guise.
Finish
A bold whisky throughout, with a mix of dark sweetness, bitter notes and spice that lingers for quite some time.
