The gentle sweetness and subtle wood spice make for a balanced combination, while soft oak and malt give the finish some structure. It runs sweeter and longer than my usual preference, but the flavours fit together well.
The long finish is the clearest draw: it stays full and velvety, with moderate sweetness and soft oak and malt. That gentle oak-and-malt combination suits my preferences without making the whisky sound especially forceful. The palate’s honey and maple syrup give it a sweet direction, while canned peaches and subtle wood spice add some contrast. Overall, the character sounds rounded and patient, with the finish offering more staying power than the gentle palate might suggest.
Honey and maple syrup make the sweetness the main draw, with subtle wood spice offering a bit of balance. That sounds appealing, though the age by itself would not sway me.
