The first batch strength limited edition from Torabhaig is here! It's a punchy 61.1% ABV version of Allt Gleann and is part of their Legacy Series, which seeks to encapsulate the distillery's signature style of 'well-tempered peat'. This is a great chance to experience the next step in the evolution of this young Skye distillery.

The mix of thick smoke, brine and lemon has a clear coastal character, while butterscotch and vanilla bring some sweetness alongside the peat. The finish is described as hot, dry and peppery, so this sounds more forceful than easygoing. I like the contrast between savoury smoke and citrus, though the heat makes approachability a qualified point rather than the main draw.
Lemon peel and citrus bring a bright edge, but thick smoke and strong peat take the lead. Orchard fruit appears in the long finish, though the hot, dry spice sounds more prominent than the fruit.
nightjar.tram12 SeptSmoke against sweet vanilla works.
copper_notebook2 SeptThe strong peat and brine give this a bold, savoury direction, while lemon and sweet vanilla offer a brighter counterpoint. It sounds like a clear, distinctive choice for someone who enjoys smoke with a little sweetness.
