Description

A picturesque malt distillery in Speyside, Tormore was originally built by American distillers, Schenley, in 1958. This 31-year-old Tormore was distilled in 1990 and bottled in 2021 by independent bottler Whisky Sponge, part of Decadent Drinks. It is a vatting of two first-fill barrels, with a total outturn of 422 bottles. The label is deliberately aged and distressed, a nod to old Italian bottlings. [2, 4, 6, 8, 9, 12]

Soft and inviting, with ripe yellow apples, orchard fruits, banana pie, barley syrup, vanilla custard, and molasses. Hints of polished oak, baking spice, chamomile, hay, and clean florals. A dusty, old-school quality with notes of textiles, lace, and antiques. [3, 4, 5, 7, 9]
Palate
Medium-bodied and vibrant, with stewed apples, apricots, and juicy fruit flavours like mango, dried papaya, and lemon jelly. Sweetness from shortbread cookies and vanilla sauce. Notes of cinnamon, aniseed, cedar spiciness, and cracked black peppercorns. Oily texture with a waxy, resinous, and slightly dusty character, hints of wood, cigar box, and old paper. [3, 4, 5, 7, 9]
Finish
