A Highland malt distillery built in 1949 by William Delmé-Evans and located in the Perthshire town of Blackford. It has mostly been owned by blending companies over the years and even today primarily provides fillings to the Highland Queen label, however single malt has always been available too. Hints of peat and phenolics open on the nose - but not in a medicinal way. Instead, we found smoked streaky bacon, golden syrup, peaches, oranges.
Palate
The palate had a 'pile-driver punch' of sweet peat smoke, smoked pineapple, vanilla, spice, sugar and pink Chewits.
Finish
The finish was long and satisfying.
