In 1949 William Delme Evans began work converting a brewery into what is now the Tullibardine distillery; and as the Gleneagles Brewery in Blackford had previously been brewing alcohol since 1488, it is one of the oldest sites in Scotland for distilling and brewing. Rich and complex, with notes of treacle, creme caramel, dried fruit, marzipan, dry oloroso, old walnut, Smyrna raisins, Chinese plum sauce, leather, Havana cigars, chocolate, prunes, old Armagnac, bitter oranges, Dantziger Goldwasser, burning pinewood, and lacquer.
Palate
Creamy texture with great depth, liquorice, Christmas pudding, rich toffee, hugely sherried, raisiny, toffeeish, vinous (like old Banyuls or Maury), cocoa, mint, coffee, brownies, silky, stewed fruits, and sweet port.
Finish
Medium long, on chocolate, coffee, faint cardboardiness, very smooth, and long.
