Description

A new entry in Tullibardine's Marquess collection – a new edition of The Murray. Named after Sir William Murray, the second Marquess of Tullibardine, it's a wine-finished whisky, matured first in first-fill American oak barrels before a move to Chateauneuf-du-Pape casks. This 2005 vintage was bottled in 2018, resulting in a 13-year-old single malt. This double maturation has resulted in a rich, weighty and spicy character that shows oodles of wine cask influence, enhancing the characteristic Tullibardine style of vanilla, caramel and oaken notes with a rich and fruity complexity. It is non chill-filtered and bottled at 46% ABV.

Fresh, with an abundance of red fruits (raspberries, blackcurrant, blackberries, cherries, grapes), hints of spice and toffee, brown sugar, vine peach, strawberry bonbons, orange barley sugar water, cherry lozenges, red liquorice laces, toasted rye bread, and marmalade.
Palate
Big and full, with more red fruits, spice, delicious mint chocolate, brandied cherry, cut cedar, touches of clove heat, summer berry sweetness, an aromatic winey note, ginger, chili peppers, sweet fruit, honey, and red berries.
Finish
Warm and enduring, with mint chocolate, barley, a touch of spice, lingering notes of strawberry laces and Nice biscuits, short and sweet, floral and winey notes, and cherries, becoming drier over time with spices.
